So much to say about the precious turmeric. Turmeric is one of the most healing roots for the body. It is grown and used mainly in India but it has been used in many countries for thousands of years as a healing food. It is known to be beneficial to the liver, inner organs, the spine, the joints, as well as the immune, nervous and cardiovascular systems. It is an important blood purifier promoting general health, including mental health and longevity. Its source and quality is important here so to benefit from its medicinal properties. Therefore look for organic turmeric and non-irradiated nor contaminated with lead.
Turmeric Paste:
- 1/2 cup of organic turmeric powder
- 1 cup of water
- 1/3 cup of organic cold pressure virgin coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp of freshly ground black pepper
Directions for the TURMERIC PASTE:
- Combine the turmeric with the water in a sauce pan.
- Heat on low heat for about 7 minutes. If the paste becomes too tick and too dry, you can add up more water, up to one more cup. But make sure that it stays firm enough,not like a sauce.
- Stir in the coconut oil and the black pepper.
- Store in a jar with a lid in the refrigerator. It will last up to 3 weeks.
Directions for the Golden Milk:
When you are ready to enjoy your Turmeric Latte, put into a cup:
- 1 teaspoon turmeric paste
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamon
- 1/2 teaspoon maca (optional)
- 1 teaspoon raw honey
- 1/3 homemade almond milk (see recipe)
- 2/3 cup boiling water
Stir and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon raw cacao.
